ABSTRACT

Humans in their daily activities are always faced with activities that require speaking skills. The ability to speak is needed in almost all daily human activities. Research proves that 72% of human waking time is in communication activities. We can almost ensure that most of the communication activities are carried out orally. Talking can show the nation, talking reveals whether you are an educated person or not. This shows how important the meaning of speaking is. Language in human life occupies the main function, namely as a means of communication. Through language, humans can fulfill one of their needs, namely socializing with their environment, holding interactions with one another. Speaking skills are the activities most often carried out by humans in communicating. Speaking skills play a role for the teacher to convey knowledge properly, so that students can understand it. As for students, speaking skills play a role in expressing questions, ideas or responses. This is in accordance with the definition of speaking according to Tarigan, namely speaking is the ability to pronounce articulation sounds or words to express, express opinions as well as thoughts, ideas and feelings.
