Abstract : The purpose of this study was to find alternative solutions to increase student activity in learning speaking descriptive text material. This action research was carried out on students who became research students. The research design used is a school action research design, the plot of which is to create cycles, namely planning actions, carrying out actions, observing and reflecting on the implementation of actions for two cycles. The results of this reflection were used as a guideline for making decisions to continue or stop research. The research was conducted in a spiral in cycles up to the second cycle. The factors examined in this study include: students' activeness in learning speaking, and the data in this study were obtained through: 1). observation; 2) questionnaire and 3) pre-test and post-test. Based on the results of the analysis in each cycle, it showed an increase in student activity in learning speaking descriptive text material, namely: an increase in student participation and activity in presenting the results of their discussions from cycle I to cycle II. In cycle I, the average percentage of student activity as a participant was obtained at 70% and in cycle II, it was 93%, resulting in an increase of 23%. Likewise for the activeness of students as presenters in cycle I, namely 68% and in cycle II 98%, there was an increase of 30%. It can be concluded that the use of image media and rotational presentation methods can increase student activity in learning speaking descriptive text material for students at SMP Negeri 5 Cikalongkulon.
