PENINGKATAN HASIL BELAJAR IPA MATERI ORGAN TUMBUHAN DENGAN MODEL DISCOVERY LEARNING PADA SISWA KELAS VII-A SMP NEGERI 1 PACET, CIANJUR

ABSTRACT :
The low student learning outcomes are the background of this study, the
average student achievement in learning only reached a value of 76.97 out
of 37 students. In connection with this, this study aims to describe the
application of the Discovery Learning model in an effort to improve the
ability to understand flat-sided geometrical materials in class VII-A SMP
Negeri 1 Pacet semester 1 for the 2019-2020 academic year. The location
of this research is the author's assignment. The research method used is
action research in the form of classroom action research. This research was
carried out in two cycles of action and each cycle consisted of the stages of
planning, implementing actions, observing, and reflecting. In the first cycle,
the average student achievement in learning only reached a value of 76.97
out of 37 students. The level of completeness of learning in the classroom
only reaches 81.08%, even though the required standard is 85%. The
results of observations made by observers show some facts of learning
management that have not been maximized, especially in the service of
groups of students who are less evenly distributed. This is due to the
relatively large number of study groups in the class, namely 7 groups. Thus,
research on learning science of plant organ material in grade VII-A
students of SMP Negeri 1 Pacet in semester 1 of the 2019-2020 school
year has not yet reached the expected level, so action treatment is needed in
cycle II.
In the second cycle of action research, several improvements were made
which included changes in the composition of group members, clearer
direction on the subject matter, and preliminary questions exercises. The
average learning outcomes obtained in the second cycle is 91.74. In
addition, the increase in learning outcomes increased by 14.77 which is the difference from the learning outcomes of the first cycle which obtained
an average of 76.97 to an average of 91.74 in the second cycle. The level
of mastery learning there is only a significant increase, namely 14.77 from
81.08% in the first cycle to 100% in the second cycle. Even though the
average increase in learning outcomes from cycle I to cycle II, students did
not learn so that improvement learning was no longer needed in the next
cycle.
