ABSTRACT As social beings, humans need social interaction in their lives by communicating, using both verbal and nonverbal language. So that by interacting socially in the community, reciprocal relationships can occur and life can be harmonious. The research used descriptive method with interview, documentation, and observation data collection techniques. The results of the research are first, how to interact socially in speaking, namely by gathering to attend the chairman of election and listening to directions from local community leaders. Communicating among family members in family gatherings, with peers. Therefore, social interaction speaking is one aspect of human behavior that is interconnected. Second, social boundaries in speaking are needed to increase a sense of kinship, friendship and occur because of social status in society. Also, these social boundaries in speaking are influenced by the profession or occupation of members of the community in which they live. So that the use of language when speaking becomes different. Third, the function of speaking in social interaction, namely as a link to human activity in behavior, as a control over human physical activity, and as a tool to communicate information to other people..
